A statement regarding the professional contracts of players and their rights in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

"Football is Saudi Arabia's number one sport and we're proud of the impact the game has at all levels across the Kingdom. The Saudi Pro League is ranked the top league in Asia by the AFC, attracting players and coaches from around the world to our successful clubs.

As the country continues to transform, significant investments in the Saudi Pro League are transforming the game on pitch and off, including enhanced governance, technology and facilities, with more planned such as FFP.

We recognize the importance of our players and have been implementing sweeping amendments to protect all parties, alongside open and transparent reporting of any issues. Since June 2021, a new Standard Player Contract, compulsory for all foreign players in Saudi Arabia, was introduced focusing on players’ rights and protection, stating that if a player is not paid in 2 months, the contract is considered terminated. The document was reviewed by FIFPRO with all observations implemented. SAFF has also signed an MOU to an independent players representative union with the support of SPL.

Governance measures have also seen overall club debt reduce by 51% in the last year, as well as new enhanced measures for club registration and licensing, player health and safety and a national dispute resolution chamber. All helping the unprecedented reduction in claims and disputes, some of which before FIFA are unresolved and thus cannot be held against our clubs.

All of football's governing bodies, including FIFA and the AFC, recognize the rapid progress we are making and the opportunity ahead of us. We continue to play an active role across football family and engage with all stakeholders, including FIFPRO, to demonstrate the progress and improvements we are making."
