Saudi Pro League (SPL) the top division of professional football in Saudi Arabia, welcomes the arrival of soccer icon Ronaldo to Riyadh-based club Al Nassr, and plans to work with the former Ballon D’Or winner to strengthen the league both on and off the pitch.

We welcome Ronaldo to Saudi Pro League. A player of his calibre will set a new standard for SPL and the worldwide interest which it attracts will send a positive signal about the ambitions of the league, encourage new fans, and help other global talent to follow the same path.

SPL’s agreement with Ronaldo is in response to the star’s wish to provide his image and services and to leverage his experience in global football to make a positive impact for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and marks the beginning of a new era for football in the Kingdom.

The league is already undergoing a major transformation to overhaul its governance, attract world class talent, reach new audiences, and enhance commercial opportunities, all while enabling its member clubs to collectively build and grow on and off the pitch.

SPL’s development plans also require a focus on youth development and infrastructure improvements to enable their ambition of becoming one of the world’s leading leagues.
