Round 25: Al-Nasr back on top for the 5th time .. 2018-2019 breaks record for most goals in a season



Al-Nasr removed Al-Hilal from the top of Prince Mohamed Bin Salman League for Professionals by recording a 3-2 late win in Riyadh derby in the round 25.
Al-Nasr reached 58 points atop the league table one point ahead of Al-Hilal as the title holders dropped second, five weeks before the end of the league.
The defeat against Al-Nasr was the second in this season for the title holders and the first loss in 2019 according to https://spl.com.sa statistics.
Al-Nasr back to the top for the sixth time this season and for the first time since matchday 6.
On the other hand, Al-Hilal left the leadership for the first time since matchday 7.
Al-Nasr became the most winning team with 18 victories, one victory ahead of Al-Hilal.
Al-Shabab remained third with 47 points followed by Al-Taween the 4th with 46 points then Al-Ahli the fifth with 40 points.
Al-Faisaly moved up to the 6th spot after reaching 36 points ahead of Al-Wahda the seventh on goal difference.
Al-Fateh with 33 points, Al-Ittifaq with 32 points and Al-Raed with 31 points kept their places from the 8th to the tenth respectively, while Al-Hazm jumped to the 11th place after reaching 27 points.
Al-Qadsya dropped to the 12th place with 24 points, while Al-Ittihad remained 13th with 22 points ahead of Al-Fayhaa the 14th and Al-Batin the 15th on goal difference.
Ohod stayed at the bottom of the table with 15 points.
The Saudi Professional League 2018-2019 season round 25 witnessed reaching 566 goals in 199 matches to break record for most goals in a season in SPL history with 17 goals ahead of 2016/2017 season which saw scoring 549 goals in 182 matches.
Al-Raed's third goal in 5-4 win over Al-Ahli by Saleh Al-Shehri was the 550th goal of the season that broke the previous record.
It must be noted that the lowest-scoring seasons in SPL history were 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons with 365 and 377 goals in a row with the participation of only 12 teams and playing only 132 matches for each season.
Al-Faisaly conceded the 500th goal in their history in SPL through Al-Ittihad's striker Gari Rodrigez.
Al-Raed's Saleh Al-Shehri scored the 14th super hat-trick in the history of SPL which was the first super hat-trick for Al-Raed and the fourth one for Saudi players.
Al-Nasr's Abdel Razek Hamdalla stays atop goal scorers list, with 22 goals, three goals ahead of Al-Taween's striker Leandre Tawamba then comes Al-Hilal's Bafetimbi Gomis in the third place with 17 goals one goal ahead of Al-Ahli's Omar Al-Somah and three goals ahead of Al-Ittifaq's Chrisian Guanca.
Hamdalla became the highest goal scorer of Al-Nasr in one season with 22 goals breaking the record of Mohamed Al-Sahlawi with 21 goals in 2014-2015 season.
Al-Taween broke their number of the highest-ever number of points earned in one season after reaching 46 points one point ahead of their previous record which was 45 points in 2016/2017 season.
Al-Hazm also broke their number of the highest-ever number of points earned in one season by reaching 27 points from 6 wins and 9 draws.
